Flute
Since beginning her flute studies in 2009, the flute has truly been Lauren's musical voice. Growing up, she performed in the Greater Twin Cities Youth Symphonies and Minnesota Youth Symphonies, touring with these ensembles to Argentina and Cuba respectively. Lauren attended St. Olaf College where she obtained her Bachelor of Music degree in flute performance studying under Dr. Catherine Ramirez. She then studied with Christina Jennings at the University of Colorado Boulder where she received her Master of Music degree.
While as CU Boulder, Lauren was a finalist and prize winner in the 2023 Ekstrand Memorial Graduate Competition and performed numerous recitals and outreach concerts with the Juniper Winds woodwind quintet. She has been a featured soloist with the St. Olaf Band and St. Olaf Philharmonia Orchestra, and performed with the University of Colorado Symphony Orchestra and Opera Orchestra (select repertoire includes Verdi La Traviata, Tchaikovsky Symphony No. 4, Shostakovich Symphony No. 5, Copland Appalachian Spring).
Lauren continues to perform while pursuing her conducting education at Bard Conservatory. She currently plays in the Bard College Community Orchestra and recently perfomed in the Opera Workshop orchestra, performing scenes from Don Giovanni, Falstaff, L'elisir d'amore, and others.
Lessons
As a passionate performer and teacher, Lauren is excited to help students of all levels unlock their curiosity, expression, and musicality. She brings years of experience as a solo & orchestral performer, chamber musician, and coach to each lesson, and has supported flute players ages 10-18+ in achieving their musical goals. Lauren offers 30, 45, and 60-minute lessons in-person (near Red Hook, NY) and virtually to students across the country.
